It has been serialized in Nihon Bungeisha's Weekly Manga Goraku since 1992. It is one of the longest manga series, with 178 volumes published by August 2024. It has been adapted into several live-action films,[1] including original videos and two television films[2][3] and also into two original video animations.[4][5]

A prequel manga, titled Template:Nihongo (and later Template:Nihongo), was published from 2006 to 2013, and nine volumes were released from 30 November 2006 to 29 June 2013.[9][10][11][12]
