Lars Fiske (born 21 July 1966) is a Norwegian comics writer, artist, and picture book creator. Known for his innovative storytelling and artistic style, Fiske has received critical acclaim for his work in both comics and children's literature. He was born in Oslo and is married to fellow illustrator and writer Anna Fiske.

Career in Comics

Early Works and "Matje" Series

Fiske debuted in the comics world with the album Matje: debutanten in 1996, which introduced his character Matje. The sequel, Matje-ismen, followed in 2000. Both works showcased Fiske’s unique artistic style and earned him recognition in the Norwegian comics scene.

Collaboration on Olaf G.

In 2004, Fiske collaborated with Steffen Kverneland to create the graphic biography Olaf G., based on the life of Norwegian cartoonist Olaf Gulbransson. The album was widely acclaimed and won the prestigious Sproing Award for Best Norwegian Comic of the Year. It was later translated into both Swedish and German, further solidifying Fiske's reputation internationally.

The Kanon Series

Following the success of Olaf G., Fiske and Kverneland continued their collaboration with the Kanon series, which began in 2006. The series explored the lives of famous painters, including Edvard Munch and Kurt Schwitters, blending biography with artistic experimentation. Kanon further established the duo as leading figures in Nordic graphic literature.

Work in Picture Books

Fiske is also celebrated for his contributions to children's literature, particularly picture books. Among his notable works is Kom, så løper vi (2002), which won critical acclaim and literary awards for its innovative approach to storytelling for young readers. Another celebrated work, På tre hjul (2005), further demonstrated his versatility as an artist and writer.
