Southwark Fair is an oil painting by William Hogarth from 1733, now in the Cincinnati Art Museum, depicting the chaos of a historic London street fair with theatrical performers, musicians, a rope-dancer, and other entertainers in front of the old church of St. George the Martyr, including a stage collapsing mid-performance.[1] Southwark Fair, which originated in 1409 and had operated for centuries by Hogarth's time, was eventually abolished in 1762 due to its disorderly reputation.[1]
