More actions
Pooch Cafe is a syndicated daily comic strip created by Canadian cartoonist Paul Gilligan, following Poncho and his fellow dogs as they discuss everyday canine concerns.[1]
Premise
The strip satirizes human behavior through a dog's-eye view, centered on Poncho, described by its syndicate as "a cheese-loving, squirrel-fearing, kibble-desiring, break-dancing, toilet-drinking mutt."[1] Within a decade of its debut the strip grew to roughly 300 newspapers and earned a National Cartoonists Society award nomination for Best Comic Strip in 2008.[2]
Creator
Gilligan previously worked in advertising and as a staff illustrator for the Ottawa Citizen before creating Pooch Cafe.[2]
