Hogarth's House is a historic house on Hogarth Lane in Chiswick, west London, that served as William Hogarth's country retreat from 1749 until his death in 1764, while he kept his main residence in Leicester Square.[1] The house was rescued from disrepair and opened to the public as a museum in 1904, passing to Middlesex County Council in 1909 and to Hounslow Council in 1965.[1] It now displays an extensive collection of Hogarth's prints and original engraving plates, and underwent major restoration around his 300th birthday in 1996–97 and again from 2008–2011.[1]
