Template:Nihongo is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Template:Ill. It was serialized in Shogakukan's [[Seinen manga|Template:Transliteration manga]] magazine Template:Ill from February 2017 to November 2018, with its chapters collected into two Template:Transliteration volumes. An anime film adaptation by Production I.G premiered in Japan in October 2023.
The series won the Excellence Award at the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2022.

Manga
Written and illustrated by Template:Ill, The Concierge at Hokkyoku Department Store was serialized in Shogakukan's Template:Ill magazine from February 17, 2017,[3] to November 16, 2018.[4] Two Template:Transliteration volumes were published on November 30, 2017, and October 30, 2020.[5][6]
In March 2024, Seven Seas Entertainment announced that it had licensed the series for English publication; the first volume was released on August 13.[7][8]

Anime film
An anime film adaptation was announced on April 25, 2023.[9] It is produced by Production I.G and directed by Template:Ill, with the screenplay written by Satomi Ooshima, character designs handled by Chiyo Morita, who also served as chief animation director, and music composed by Tofubeats.[1][10] The film held its world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 12, 2023.[11][12] It was then released in Japan on October 20 of the same year by Aniplex. Template:Ill performed the theme song "Gift".[13] Crunchyroll screened the film in North American theaters on September 11, 2024, under the title The Concierge.[11][14]
Reception
The Concierge at Hokkyoku Department Store ranked fourth in Freestyle magazine's "The Best Manga 2019 Kono Manga o Yome!" list, tying with Areyo Hoshikuzu and Sore wa Tada no Senpai no Chinko;[15] it ranked 14th in the 2021 list.[16] The series won the Excellence Award in the manga division of the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2022.[17]
The anime film adaptation won the Silver Audience Award for Best Animated Feature at the 27th Fantasia International Film Festival.[18]
